I am truly impressed by this shot.
You chose the perfect time of day. Your lighting accents the age and dereliction of the stair. The light being on all three levels at different points helps to direct the eye around the shot. The dirt, the ridges of the joins on the handrail and the detail on the balusters increase the textures and interest of the piece. The unbroken cobweb. catches the light. This adds a breath of the ephemeral to the aged solidity of your stair.
The nautilus handrail draws us down your field gracefully. The strong verticals of the balusters increases the depth and draws the eye ever inward and down. The dynamic angles of the risers increases this while adding interest. The rugs' patterns add an interest that breaks up the repetition and adds color and texture.
I'm thankful that you did not crop it differently. It would have ruined the feel.
The tight color palette and natural sepia tint of your subject adds to the aged feel of the piece. A place forgotten and abandoned.
Ultimately this piece just blows me away.
